Nugenix GH-Boost: Ingredients, Benefits, Side Effects & Efficacy
The marketplace is filled with products advertising that they boost your human growth hormone (HGH) or testosterone levels. Nugenix GH boost is no different. According to the website, it is a “revolutionary nighttime formula” designed to revitalize growth hormone levels. The promotion says you will have better energy, muscle, body, and composition.
Nugenix promotional info continues to say that it features clinically validated ingredients that will safely boost HGH by over 100% in 90 minutes. However, there are no independent studies attached to these claims.
That does not mean everything listed is not valid. The manufacturers correctly state that their product does not contain steroids or banned substances. They even put in small print at the bottom of the page that the FDA has not evaluated their statements.
But what does that mean? Is Nugenix approved or regulated by the FDA? If you are wondering about the ingredients, safety, benefits, and effectiveness of Nugenix GH boost, you have come to the right place.
What Is Nugenix GH-Boost?
Nugenix GH-Boost is a supplement that alleges to boost growth hormone production by the pituitary gland. The product’s key ingredients are amino acids and ingredients that help promote sleep.
Why is sleep support beneficial to HGH?
Deep, slow-wave sleep is when the body produces the maximum amount of HGH. Its releases come in pulsatile bursts once every few hours. Upon release, HGH races through the bloodstream to its many receptor cells to impart its signals. HGH then disappears from the bloodstream until the next release.
The more you sleep, the more bursts of HGH will occur. During these releases, the cells involved in tissue repair and metabolic functions carry out their actions. That is also why people weigh less in the morning, as the body can burn fat while you sleep.
By your fourth decade, between ages thirty and forty, your body decreases HGH secretion two to threefold. That is also when most people start to sleep less. Anything less than seven hours or more than nine hours can negatively impact HGH production. Healthy men may see up to a 50% decline in GHG secretion every 7 years.
Returning to the discussion about Nugenix, the question is whether it can improve sleep and HGH secretion. We must also consider the potential side effects of Nugenix and whether it is safe to use without doctor supervision.
The first issue we want to address is one of the most crucial to understand: FDA approval.
Is Nugenix FDA Approved?
According to a 2019 report, Nugenix Free Testosterone Booster Libido + Performnce + Drive + Vitality Dietary Supplement is an unregistered food supplement. The FDA warns the public not to purchase and consume this product.
Please also note the difference between FDA Registered and FDA Appoved:
- FDA Registered products have submitted their information to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for sale. The FDA can inspect facilities to ensure they comply with current manufacturing processes. That is all registering means, not that the product does what it says or is safe to use. A company may not have submitted its information, as supplements on the market are not always presented to the FDA.
- FDA Approved products must pass and meet stringent standards. Please note that the FDA does not approve supplements. They will act to take products shown to be dangerous or demonstrating unsubstantiated claims off the market.
Because it is a supplement, Nugenix GH-Boost cannot be FDA approved.
Our concern with this product is the many claims by individuals (including bodybuilders used to taking amino acid supplements) that they felt they were having a heart attack after taking one dose. Some potential side effects are listed on the back of the box.
Some side effects can occur if you drink the product too fast. The box does say to consume slowly on an empty stomach.
The Full List of Nugenix Ingredients
Can the ingredients used to manufacture Nugenix GH-Boost provide any benefits?
Let us break down the GH-Boost ingredients and examine them one at a time:
Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) – may increase lean muscle mass |
L-Glutamine – supports brain functions, wound healing, illness recovery, digestion, increasing short-term HGH levels |
L-Lysine, L-Arginine, L-Ornithine – we have linked these together because they have been tested together, and the findings were that while they may increase GH release, oral dosages that are significant enough to accomplish that could cause stomach discomfort and diarrhea |
Glycine – intravenous glycine has been shown to increase HGH release; a combination of glycine, glutamine, and niacin taken orally increased serum growth hormone levels by 70% but did not alter insulin growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels, mood, or memory |
Alpha-Glyceryl phosphorylcholine (A-GPC) – studies have shown this may increase peak HGH levels |
Citric acid – manufactured citric acid may lead to significant inflammatory reactions, joint and muscle pain, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms, and respiratory symptoms |
Black instant tea (decaf) – tea offers many benefits for the body |
Malic acid – check with a healthcare provider before taking; side effects include nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea |
Natural flavors – unknown safety as they do not list what these natural flavors are |
Silica – may improve bone mineral density and strength |
Beet powder for color – while beetroot has many benefits, it is also very high in oxalates which can disrupt fat-burning glands, such as the thyroid, and are linked to kidney stones, chronic disease, and joint pain |
Sucralose – may increase inflammation, IBS symptoms, and increase the risk of leaky gut, Crohn’s disease, and type 2 diabetes |
Based on the potential side effects of some of the ingredients in Nugenix GH-Boost, we cannot recommend it for use.
Does Nugenix GH-Boost Work?
Scientific-based Nugenix GH boost studies are challenging to find. Most of the information online is either customer or independent lab reviews. The responses are mixed based on consumer comments on websites that sell Nugenix products. Some people report getting good sleep, energy, and muscle recovery results. Others mention potentially serious side effects.
Because there is no legitimate Nugenix research, it is impossible to back up the company’s claims. Nugenix has many claims on its website without any actual studies or evidence supporting the product. Furthermore, the lack of studies also means a lack of safety information. Third-party testing is crucial to show efficacy and safety.
One company, Illuminate Labs, reviewed the ingredients and declared them unlikely to cause long-term GH-level changes. They further mentioned questionable additive ingredients.
Nugenix GH-Boost Reviews: What Do Customers Say?
After reading dozens of Nugenix before and after reviews, it is clear that feelings about this product are mixed. Some people focused on the harmful side effects, such as thinking they were having a heart attack and could not catch their breath within minutes of taking their first dose. We covered these concerns in the section above on side effects.
Other HGH boost reviews for Nugenix focused on taste:
- “…the flavor, one word, revolting”
- “too sweet”
- “tastes awful”
Other complaints were that the product could not be returned once opened. That is a company that does not stand by what it sells. Some users report no response from the company.
For a supplement that claims to help people sleep better, many users said it did not improve their sleep at all. Many of the complaints and negative reviews came from people who have successfully used other products by this company.
Some users compare the side effects to those felt when taking niacin products.
Have there been positive reviews on this product?
Absolutely, but that does not make the product safe to use or effective in boosting HGH levels for long-term benefits.
Nugenix Lawsuits
Numerous lawsuits have been directed at testosterone and growth hormone-boosting supplement manufacturers over the years. When we do an in-depth look at products such as Nugenix Total T, ingredients contain Vitamins B6 and B12, zinc, L-Citrulline Malate, Fenugreek, elevATP Blend (containing ancient peat extract and apple fruit extract), Eurycoma longifolia extract, and boron.
Some Eurycoma longifolia supplements have been found to contain excess mercury or lead. This supplement can also impact how the liver breaks down certain medications. A study on this supplement found it non-toxic under regular use, but it presented no benefits to the body.
One particular lawsuit was filed regarding Nugenix safety, claiming that one of the products contained Testofen, which contains herbal compounds that can lead to liver toxicity and liver damage. The plaintiff, in this case, developed jaundice, sclera icterus, joint pains, fatigue, headaches, muscle aches, and nausea. He was diagnosed with acute liver injury and required a liver transplant and gallbladder removal. The plaintiff eventually filed for the case to be dismissed, and there is no record of any private agreement between him and the company.
Judging from the mixed bag of Nugenix Total T reviews and GH-Boost reviews, we cannot recommend these products as their safety has not been third-party tested. Over-the-counter supplements do not go through the stringent testing of pharmaceutical medications. According to ConsumerLab, no clinical evidence supports the effectiveness of Nugenix Total-T. Whether there is a Nugenix scam or an effective product remains to be seen.
